Welcome to Ritchie Tower Condominium!!
Ritchie Court was named for The Reverend George Ritchie who came to Chicago from Boston in 1875 to become the rector of the Church of the Ascension, an Episcopal Church that was then located on the street the building is now located. Dr. Ritchie left Chicago only nine years late to accept the pastorate of St. Ignatius Church in New York City, but he left the legacy of his name. Ritchie Court was dedicated on October 29, 1888.
Ritchie Court led into the Potter Palmer Estate which was located on the Lake Shore Drive on the site of the now 1350 and 1360 Lake Shore Drive Apartment Buildings.
On October 29, 1963, Louis C. Sudler, whose company was the first, and current, Ritchie Tower Management Company, invited a select list of people to an elaborate party to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the naming of Ritchie Court AND the opening of the all new Ritchie Tower "now at 1310 N Ritchie Court."
